Get to know DJdoforLOVE

DJdoforLOVE created a house & garage mixtape for us to enjoy during New Year's Eve. We had a little chat with him about his passion for music.

Can you introduce yourself?

I am a husband, full-time father of two young boys, I run my own business and figured out I had a passion I didn’t give much attention for a long time so I decided to start doing it again, for myself, since it’s what I love to do.

Where does your passion for music come from?

I like to think it is in my blood. My father travelled from Casablanca to Paris in '76, touring as a drummer with his Funk band. They came to Amsterdam in ’77 where he met my mum in ‘79 in Dansen Bij Jansen (now Disco Dolly). So when I was born, it was already there.

When did you start playing music?

I too started drumming at a young age, I must have been 5 when I got in to it. Growing up in Amsterdam I got in touch with all types of music where 90’s Hip Hop was the main music we listened to during High School. I reckon I played my first records probably at 19 at some house party in town.

What’s your favourite type of music?

I really listen to any type of music you can imagine. My favorite music is between Hip Hop and Reggae.

The best parties I had were always the spontaneous ones at someone's place; meeting new people and hanging out until the early morning completely wasted.

And your favorite song ever?

Bob Marley & The Wailers - Waiting In Vain

Can you tell us a little bit about the mixtape you created for us?

My wife Lara (founder of Crisp Sheets) asked me to make a mixtape for the Crisp Sheets audience to party to. So I thought of these tracks as some of them are the tracks my wife, kids and I listen to when we’re having fun at home. It’s also the type of music Lara and I enjoy to dance to when we used to go to festivals.

How does your ideal New Year’s Eve look like?

Ideally dinner with family and once we pass midnight, the best parties I had were always the spontaneous ones at someone's place; meeting new people and hanging out until the early morning, completely wasted.

What’s your wish for 2022?

I wish for these restrictions to be over soon and party with my friends like when I was 21 :-)
